See You At the Pole!

Today, we all met at the high school for See You At the Pole. SYATP is a national day of prayer at the school's for christian youth groups. It was amazing to see the kids gather around the flag, hold hands and pray for their teachers, leaders and fellow students. I couldn't help but cheat and take a peek to see how the other kids around us were reacting. Most were just watching intensely....I pray they were wondering what they were missing out on and maybe even approached a few of the kids about it. I even took the boys with me since their school wasn't hosting the event. Maybe next year we can get Horton on board!!!

Mamaw seems to be doing good according to mom, but continue to keep her in your prayers please. Here are a few photos from today.

Prayer request

Be in prayer for my Mamaw today. She is having a bladder stone removed. She's had a great deal of problems lately so keep her lifted up. Well, I am off to school.......it's your typical Monday morning......everyone is dragging and I can hear the moodiness in everyone's voice. Have a great week!!!

Weekly Memory Verse

I thought I'd start posting a bible verse each Sunday afternoon to apply to our upcoming week. This is something I do for myself each week anyhow, except with sticky notes all over my car and books! This weeks verse is:

"The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

Finally a little rain......

Well, we finally received a little rain last night. Actually, it stormed pretty hard, too hard in fact. All it really did was make a ton of red clay puddles everywhere. Things are very sticky here today and the sun in shining bright. I just wish it would cool off a bit. I'm sure I'll regret those words in another month though. I'd rather have it too hot than too cold.

We are up and at 'em early this morning. Brandon had baseball practice at 8:30 (thanks to his new coach, HIS DAD). Then they are all off to the UNC game to work concession stand for the Scouts. So, I guess I can get some research done on my term paper today.

Eric reported on Wednesday to his new duty assignment at Ft. Bragg. We'll see how that goes!! I know one thing, I'm sick of hearing about the New York Times calling General Petraus "Betray Us" because it's just disgusting. If it wasn't for the military serving, they wouldn't have the right to publish anything like that. Actually, an organization called MoveOn is the one who paid to have it published. Definite secular-progessive idiots that no nothing about freedom!! Well, I guess getting on my political soapbox first thing in the morning isn't a good sign. haha

Hey, maybe I'll find time to scrap today!!! Or at least CUT OUT something with my cricut!!!

Birthday Boy

Yesterday was Brandon's birthday. It's hard to believe he is eleven already! It just seems like yesterday when I gave birth to him in California. We didn't do too much to celebrate last night because he had baseball practice (so much for your dad being the head coach) and he had a great deal of homework. So hopefully tomorrow, we can do something. He's saving up his $$$ for some Nintendo gameboy thingy (that he needs like a hole in the head!). Man, I'm getting old......

Here's a picture of Brandon with Mia when she was only a few weeks old. He's grown a great deal since then..........he's almost as big as Brady (well, he is in some ways). Well, off to battle the preschoolers!!! Have a blessed day!

Pound Your Parents......Youth vs. Parents 2007

The Parents of Pittsboro Baptist Youth

Well, what a night we had on Sunday! It was the churchwide Pound Your Parents!! And the parents won! 180-20!!! Oh the nasty things we had to do! First, we had to hold a styrofoam cup down completey and lick our finger and eat dry kool-aid from it. I had to eat TWO packs. It was NASTY!!!!!!!! (Yes, I did throw up afterwards). Then, we had to eat half of a banana and chug down hald a can of Sierra Mist, finish the banana and the rest of the soda and burp in Tripp's face. I burped like 7 times before I was halfway finished. I'm sure Eric enjoyed this game. Yes, he went!!

We had all kinds of crazy in between games as well. Putting Trix Cereal up our nose and shooting it out into a cup. That's the only game the parents lost.

Outside, we had to run up, grab something out of a brown paper bag and eat whatever we got. I had to eat an entire can of Vienna Sausages. Easy for a WV gal. Everyone was ready to hurl watching me though. Some had to eat salmon, big carrots, stale pop tarts, sardines, and yes, dog bones.

We also played a game where we had to run, slide across some slime yuck and then spin around a baseball bat using our forehead ten times. Uh, I feel after the sevennth spin and almost landed in the graveyard full time. Many of the men were really funny on that one.....falling everywhere!

The final game, was GROSS!!! We had to take SPAM and stick it under our neck and pass it to the next person without dropping it. Now this was totally disgusting!!! The last person to get the spam had to eat it (but a fresh can of course)!! Well, Brittany had to eat that SPAM.....she lost but lord, she was shoving it in that mouth of hers!! All in all, it was a great time. The losers got pied in the face. Of course, I ended up getting more of the whip cream and chocolate syrup on my backside from the youth after we pied them. They all seemed to come after me....oh well, show's their love! LOL The worst part of the night was my parents were ready to call FOX NEWS and report me missing because I forgot to check in for the day!! SORRY..........

It's been a while since a post....

Well, it's been almost two weeks!! I need to try and schedule blog time into my schedule!! A lot has happened since that first day of school for the kids. On Friday, August 31st, we mourned Roxy's birthday. She would have been four. I had purchased her some new flowers and trimmed up her gravestone. I kept busy so it made it a little easier. Of course, I had unexpected guests coming that I wouldn't find out about until an hour and a half before they arrived the next day. You guessed it, Eric's parents!!! They were fine this time, in fact, ERIC is the problem. It's like he enjoys playing us against each other as much as his mom does. He just needs to grow up or take a drive to Atlanta one! He's been acting too friendly this week as well so something has to be up that sleeve of his!

We started preschool classes on Tuesday. We have 14 students in our three year old class. 7 boys and 7 girls. It was a pretty good first day. It was a long one though because I had class right after prek let out. Then of course, we began children's choir on Wednesday night. I had 18 little singers there!!! It was great!

Thursday morning, I woke up with the hershey chocolate "doris runs" and started vomitting. Day two of preschool had to be a sick day for me. As well as day three. I must have had that 24 hour bug or something. So, I'm hoping that I can sanitize the house today and catch up on homework. I need some scrappin' time....that's what it is. I need to make a trip to WV soon too for a week-end. DESPERATELY!!! So I'm hoping to figure that into my schedule sometime next month for a few days. I need to see my Mamaw anyhow. Well, I'm off to clean.......but only minimumally. I'll try to keep up with this thing better.
