A good night sleep!

Boy, last night was the best I've slept in a very long time. After making a few more phone calls for the campaign, Brandon and I decided to watch a DVD together. Well, when Eric goes out of town, Brandon always sleeps downstairs with me. He likes to think he's my protector. 30 minutes into the movie, I was OUT!!! That was by 10:30 I believe. I woke up around 2 am and the tv was on saying the DVD was over....evidently, Brandon had fallen asleep too!! We didn't set our feet on the ground until after ten this morning!!! Brandon had Pugsley on one side of him and Meadow on the other. Of course, Mia was on my head.........she always sleeps there.

We signed Brandon up for his next karate sessions.....he is now a Purple belt. Hard to believe he's been staying strong and doing this for almost 3 years. Miss Ann says he's the most determined in the class. Then we went to Andy's Burger joint and pigged out on cheeseburgers and fries. So today, we'll be calling for the campaing, doing laundry, homework and who knows what else we'll get into!!! Maybe I'll even do a little scrapping.

Get the word out gang!!!!

This article was emailed to me from one of my online teams. I have made around 67 calls tonight and since it is after 8 pm, I'm putting the breaks on incase there are young children being put to sleep, etc. After all, I have all day tomorrow!!! hehe I even allowed Brandon to make a few calls.......not too bad for an eleven year old!

Right now, Huckabee is ahead of McCain AND Romney in Georgia...by DOUBLE DIGITS!!! After last nights debate on MSNBC...he has also made quite an impression on folks in Florida...unfortunately, I don't believe it's enough to win their Primary. I did have quite a few that voted absentee already for Huckabee who I spoke with tonight and that is an aspect I had forgotten about.

If you can't vote on Super Tuesday (or as they now call it Tsunami Tuesday) then you can at least be in prayer for Gov. Huckabee, his family, staff, and all the volunteers involved in this campaign. The messageboards are filled tonight with people trying to raise money for the campaign or make calls to other states like I have been doing. I wish that I could vote in this upcoming primary and didn't have to wait until MAY!!! That just irks me!!!!!!

After the South Carolina primary and the subsequent withdrawal of Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter’s presidential bids, the Republican field has narrowed considerably. Barring a Giuliani victory in Florida, the nominee will almost certainly be Romney, McCain, or Huckabee. As none of the remaining candidates can lay full claim to the conservative mantle, how do conservative voters select from among these three without splitting the party and dividing the base?

In the past, the various factions that compose the GOP made common cause based on a set of principles; a muscular foreign policy, free market economics, and promoting a culture that values life. After spending decades in the political wilderness, Republicans chose Ronald Reagan to turn these principles into policy. The order of events was no accident; the man (Reagan) met the moment (the Cold War and the supply-side boom) once Republicans were united in purpose.In 2008, party unification (and subsequently, electoral victory) hinges on one thing: internalizing the lessons of the past.

It is for that reason that conservatives and Republicans must approach the primaries from a different angle. Rather than viewing a choice between the current candidates as a series of trade-offs (Huckabee the social conservative vs. Romney the economic conservative), we should look at the principles beneath the positions. In that light, the current choice is between two conservatives (Romney and Huckabee) and a moderate who leans right on foreign policy (McCain).

In order for the GOP to usher in four new years of conservative governance, its voters must have one priority: to pick the candidate who 1) best embodies conservative principles and 2) is able to put those principles into practice so that they fully address the needs of the nation and its citizens.

For this reason, Mike Huckabee deserves a second look by primary voters who have written him off as “the social conservative candidate” or “an economic populist.” While he has drawn heat from a number of prominent conservatives for his attacks on the Club for Growth and the fact that he raised taxes while governor of Arkansas, there is more to Huckabee than meets the eye. While it is true that he raised taxes five times as governor, he also lowered them ninety-four times.Additionally, polls indicate that the middle class is trending Democratic—largely over economic issues. While tax cuts are excellent for stimulating economic growth, they do nothing for job security.

Huckabee’s overtures to Americans concerned about their jobs have not abandoned the principles of free-market economics; they still emphasize empowering individuals over expansion of government power. Rather, they are an attempt to answer the needs of the voters without resorting to the socialism-lite offered by the Democrats. The fact is that America in 2008 faces different problems than in 1980, and while principles should not change, solutions must change where necessary to effectively meet America’s needs.

An avowed supporter of the pro-life movement and traditional marriage, Huckabee also offers a fresh perspective on the culture of life. By speaking on the genocide in Darfur and the slaughter of the unborn in America in the same breath, he has effectively linked America’s responsibility to the unborn and its responsibility to champion freedom and protect the innocent abroad.This moral clarity is vitally important.To those in the party who would like to put the issue of abortion on the back burner in favor of economic and foreign policy issues, Huckabee’s rejoinder is, why choose? All life is sacred.

At the same time, it is an eloquent rebuttal to those Americans who are suffering from Iraq-induced fatigue and prefer a “non-interventionist” foreign policy. As President Bush noted, the terrorists began this conflict, but we’ll decide how and when to finish it.Though the slate of Republican candidates is smaller than ever, conservatives need not despair. There is more than one candidate remaining whose platform is rooted in conservative principles.

If, however, conservatives are looking something more—if they are looking for a candidate who can utilize these principles to craft new policies to meet our current challenges, they could not do better than to consider Mike Huckabee. The man from Hope is selling his own brand of optimism to voters—which makes him Reaganesque in more ways than one.

Sure feel that way...

Boy, this latest Maxine clip fits me well. It feels like I'm bulging at the hips....went from a size 5 to 7/8 now. That just stinks!!! And it sure isn't because of the cake and ice cream....because I didn't have any cake and ice cream this year!! Other than the chocolate chip cookie cake my preschoolers had for me. Maybe it's because I'm eating less??? Ha! Ha!

Not much going on just yet around here today. Today is my long day of classes right after work so I came home to grab a quick bite, check on the pups and the latest Huckabee news. Even though Mike isn't going to put any more money into Florida, we can still get quite an amount of votes so tell everyone you know in Florida to vote on Saturday and vote for Huckabee!! I told Brandon last night that I'd be making calls for the campaign for the majority of Saturday and the child actually asked if he could do some. What better way to get a vote than through a young child who would LOVE to vote, but can't!! It may be good practice for him because he claims that he'll run for President one day himself. After he's been a pastor, lawyer, and who knows what else!!!

Well, I guess I better shut down and get ready to head to campus. Stay tuned to FOX for me throughout the day so you all can keep me posted on the latest news!

A great endorsement for Huckabee...

Yippee!! A public endorsement from former Presidential Candidate Duncan Hunter. I did agree with a good many of his views....he just wasn't out there much. I'm thrilled that he is supporting Gov. Huckabee. I'll be back to making phone calls on Friday. I'm going to go a bit slower this time and try not to make all one hundred calls in less than two hours!!! That way I can allow some of my frustrations to subside. Although, answering machines are the bomb! You just don't get any feedback from them as far as who their politician of choice is or if there are any questions on the issues. Keep getting the word out to your friends in Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, Arkansas, etc. Anyone that's voting on Super Tuesday. Boy, I sure wish we were voting here in NC!!

I went and got my NC driver's license today. I had to take the whole dang test from vision to driving, but I passed with flying colors! Hey dad, they didn't make me parallel park!!! I have that down to a perfection considering my dad made me spend all of Memorial Day one year when I was sixtenn practicing it until I got it right! LOL Now I am an official North Carolinian driver. The good thing was they saw all my Huckabee flyers and bumper stickers. hehe

Hunter Endorses Huckabee

California Rep. Duncan Hunter, a former presidential candidate, announced Wednesday he is endorsing Mike Huckabee's White House bid.“I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail,” Hunter said in a statement. “Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China’s emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America’s industrial base."Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee’s candidacy that compels my endorsement," he added. "Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well."

Focus is now on Florida...

Well, another week has begun and now it is time to focus on Tuesday's Florida Primary. Rudy Guiliani has put all of his time and funding into this state alone and if Mayor Guiliani losses Florida....will he continue on in the race?

Most media consults want to say that they believe that Gov. Huckabee will drop out after a loss in Florida......but who says that he will lose? Chances are that he will place third.....but we will not give up. Huckabee is a definite fighter and after reading his book Character Makes A Difference, I am even MORE impressed by the challenges he has faced in life.

Did you know that when Gov. Huckabee was told he would be the new Governor of Arkansas it was because Jim Guy Tucker was having to resign due to the Whitewater scandal?? Not only that, but Mr. Tucker made Mike's inauguration day frankly, pure hell! He called Mike ten minutes before his ceremony announcing that he decided not to resign....well, Gov. Huckabee saw that this was unethical and not what the people of Arkansas needed. He continued to fight the entire day and finally, with the threat of impeachment on the public air waves that evening, won the battle. Good for Mike! He saw what the people needed and hung in there.

I was also very disappointed when I had learned that all of his church members turned their back on Mike when he left his ministry for public office. They weren't upset with him because he was pursuing politics....but because he was in the Republican party. The cruel punishment that they had put his family through is embarrassing to me as a christian myself....let alone a Southern Baptist. Shame on them!!!

I have learned more about Mike's strength in reading this book and suggest it to anyone wanting to find out more facts whether it's due to the election or you'd just like to get to know one of the candidates better. Even though Mike has left church as a full-time minister, I still believe he is continuing on with God's work and is still pastoring millions upon millions today. That is what we need for our country! One who hurts when we hurt, laughs when we laugh, and puts our concerns above all others. Just like he did for the people of Arkansas.

Rumor has it that Fred Thompson will probably drop out of the Presidential race sometime within the next few days. Where will those conservative votes go? To McCain or Huckabee??? That could make a huge difference in Florida's primary.

Healing slowly....

Well, as you can see........my wound from my biopsy looks worse now than it did last earlier in the week. Of course, they ended up giving me bandages with latex and I'm allergic to latex. If it's not one thing..........it's another.

It's been a pretty quiet day around here for the most part today. We were all off from work and school so we did get to sleep past 8 am! The boys are getting into this wrestling fetish and I'm not too sure I like it. Karate is one thing, but all I hear above me during the day is "boom! bang! slam!" But do you think they listen to me........NO!

Tomorrow it's back to the grind for Eric & I, but the kids are off until Thursday. I never had teacher work days when I was growing up. I think they are ridiculous! After all, teachers get paid for planning periods, I know, I'm a dang teacher!!! Well, until something exciting happens............

Church was cancelled for THIS????

Wow! Around 8:30 last night my deacon called to say they weren't going to have church today because of the "snow." I had to laugh because there was only about an inch on the ground at that point and the flurries were lightening up a bit. Today, we woke up to sunshine but a bit of ice hanging off the fence and the steps were a bit slippery....but nothing on the roads. Things sure are different here than in WV. They would flip out if they had to drive in 6-8 inches in Preston County!! It is nice to have the day off though......I feel like I'm in grade school again and school was cancelled for my birthday. Seems like we always had a snowday on my birthday.

I don't really want to discuss any of the SC Primary today.......I pouted for most of the night. Although we did come in a strong second. I think it was more disappointing for me because I had actually put work into this state with all the phone calls I had made and emails sent out. But hey, we have Florida......and then Super Tuesday.

A day around the house.......

Looks like today I will be chillin' around the house. I was going to go to a friends to scrapbook today, but they are calling for bad weather later on and I just have way too much homework to do to be honest. I hate that I'm missing a crop, but school comes first I guess. And this Psych class is already driving me "crazy."


Brady spent the night with a friend from school so it's actually pretty quiet around here (with the exception of Eric!). Today's the day of the SC Primary so you know I'll be glued to FOX News. As long as that arrogant Mitt Romney doesn't win.........we're good. I've never heard someone so cocky and full of himself. And he continues to lie about his record and things that he's said. He even has lobbyists working on his campaign. Sad that he can't play the right way.

I had a pretty good response to my calls made to SC yesterday for Mike. I think I was calling people in my sleep though and stating "this was paid for by Huckabee for President, Inc."! haha



They are calling for 1-3 inches of snow here this evening.........I know that all the stores are probably sold out of milk and toilet paper.....watch us not get a thing. It would be nice to have a little snow for all the kids to play in and enjoy for a while because it's so rare around here. At least for my preschoolers. Even if it snowed 6 years ago....they've never seen it because they're only 3!!!

Phone calls, phone calls....

Well, I'm happy to report that I made 97 phone calls to SC in the past two hours on behalf of the Huckabee for President campaign. I found out that WE were the only campaign that actually had LIVE people calling......(as one elderly lady put it "Alive folks"). I h ad many that have already voted........and devulged that they voted for Mike. Yeah!!! I must admit, I am tired of talking on the phone! Whew!! I forgot how hard it was to campaign that way. Thank goodness I'm not making a living as a telemarketer because I sure don't have the patience for that!!!

Tomorrow is the big Primary in SC. Stay tuned to hear about another Huckabee victory!!

Good day....

Well, it's been a few days....I've been overwhelmed with my schedule. I did get my biopsy results back last night and everything is fine. I did figure out this morning that the bandages that they gave me to keep my wound covered are latex though and I am allergic to latex. FIGURES!!!! Now I know why I've been itching so much and why my stomach area is all broken out and RED!!!

There was a two hour delay here today because it was "raining". We have a system in the county here that calls you when there is a change in school routine so at 4:16 this morning, we got a phone call saying that we had a delay. Why can't they call at a decent hour???!!!!!

Tuesday nights campaign meetup was GREAT!! There were even quite a few individuals there from my home state, WV!! We are busy working on the election on Saturday in SC....lots of phone calls and emails to be made. So if you have any friends in SC.....call them and remind them to vote on Saturday and tell them all the great things about the candidate Mike Hucakbee!!

During this informational meeting, they were explaining the delegates process so I contact my county GOP yesterday to figure out if they needed any representatives for the party.........sure enough....they did. Now I can attend all the precinct meetings and get my vote across for Gov. Huckabee in more ways than just casting it on May 6th. I wish we were voting sooner!

Among conservatives, Huckabee attracts 27% and Romney is second with 19%. Among moderates, McCain leads with 29% and Romney is second with 18%.
